Jorge Rodriguez and Pilargomez Arce

Since ancient times the art of weaving is part of the culture of all peoples. The importance and significance of the textiles are and remain paramount. Spinning, weaving, embroidery, painting with thread and needle in any genre, women did this work from pre-Hispanic times. The work of Pilar Gomez and Jorge Rodriguez has a strong magical and spiritual meaning that plays a wide variety of colors typical of Mexican culture where the main actor is the lizard. The dance ritual is always present in these designs by Jorge Rodriguez and Pilar Gomez Arce. Their embroidery transforms into colors and shapes and textures and gives meaning to the nature of their tapestry.
