The story of "Topiary Trees"

This lovely, imaginative, beautiful design by Barbara Elmore was a needlepoint workshop. My completed piece is a favorite wherever I exhibit and one can hear all the "Ohhhhh's" as people stop and ponder these small trees. All the flowers are stitched with silk ribbons. There is also boucle thread, beads, moss and real three dimension half flower pots. Looking at these photos, you are able to see the shadows created by the dimension of this piece.

I enjoyed learning the silk ribbon techniques and the open work background was fun to stitch. I was warned that silk ribbon fades and I didn't want to believe it. It does and these flowers are fading as flowers will do in a garden.
