It is my great pleasure to introduce you to Clemmie
Rounds. Of this first piece Clemmie writes: "I became instantly
in love with Julie Sackett's "Black Diamonds Kimono" when
I saw two color palettes on display at the EGA exhibit in Venice,
Florida. Since red is my favorite color I decided to choose
my own threads with the black mono 18 canvas and a little hint of
silver to give it that extra sparkle."

"Ladies"
original name "Territorial T'ing"
10¼" X 16½" 14 mono canvas
Designer: Territorial T'ing is an adaptation of an
original painting by Lisa Etre of the Pink Papaya in St.
Thomas, Virgin Islands. Stitch guide by Carolyn Hook, from JB Designs. Yarns and stitches selected by Sherrill
Collins.
""Ladies", "Mask" and "Lady with Rose", are pieces in "The Needlepoint Book" by Joe Ippolito Christensen.
I scanned "Ladies" and "Mask" on my computer
and increased the image size to my liking, traced it onto mono 14
canvas and used most of the recommended stitches using lots of my
"leftover" threads."
You may be able to purchase your copy of
"The Needlepoint Book" by Joe Ippolito Christensen,
here at the Amazon website.

"Lady with Rose"
original name "Lady with Red Flower"
13" x 16¼" - 14 mono canvas
Designer: Clarice Bethel

"Rose was another idea from Jo Ippolito Christensen's book, except
that I drew the face free-hand, which turned out very much to my liking
and again, I used many of my leftover threads. The silk rose was glued
on instead of the tulip which was stitched on the original version."

May 2007 - "What's with my totebags?"
"I needed a totebag to carry my stitching projects in and found the perfect pattern! Then I decided to make my portfolio carrier to match the tote.
|
Rosalyn saw it and made such positive comments resulting in my making one for
her! During my "work in progress" phase, more people became interested
and Helen Allen and I are making and selling more totes!
With this one that I'm showing you, the needlepoint dragon inset was stitched by friend, Pat Dalton. I had such fun finishing it and got even more excited making the beaded tassels.
The totes measure approximately 17" wide, 11" high and 4½" deep.
The faux suede handles measure each 6" x 3¾". I have made changes
on the inside. It started off with one pocket but I have increased it
to three, one for pens/pencils, one for cell phone and the other for
notepads or what have you.
The lining of most of my totes are solid color Dupione silk when available.
At this time, I have only focused on Oriental themed fabrics which are
100% cotton, but I am planning to expand in the near future."

Clemmie Rounds was born
in Indonesia from Dutch, English, Portugese and Indonesian heritage.
Shortly after the second World War, when Indonesia won its independence
from Holland, all Dutch citizens were forced to move to Holland....
that 's how she ended up living there as a little girl until 1961,
at age 13, her parents decided to immigrate to America.
Clemmie writes: "My
fascination for fiber arts started at the early age of 5 when I
watched my sister make wonderful crochet dolls out of clothes pins
and my mother knitting all sorts of sweaters, socks and mittens
for the whole family. I just had to learn how to hold these
long thin needles, how to thread a needle and do a simple counted
crossstitch, and I did.
In the late 60's I began seriously knitting shawls, afgans, sweaters
for myself and family, and my knitting and needlepoint skills blossomed.
I am now in a position to enjoy all sorts of fiber arts and become
involved with the EGA and ANG.
I'm honored to exhibit some pieces here in Rosalyn's guest gallery.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Clemmie
