"Dowagiac"

My next Guest Artist Jean Hilton is most likely known to most of you. Jean has created many many needlepoint designs that we know and love! These are just two examples of her charted designs, 'Dowagiac' which is 13" x 17", and below 'Whisper' which is 13" x 13".

Jean writes: "During my learning days I stitched everything in the books that I could understand." Despite 'tons of mistakes', every stitch was a joy".
Her mother, two aunts and a cousin asked her to teach them how to needlepoint. That class started a teaching and designing career that continues thirty years later. Jean has written several stitch books in addition to publishing her needlepoint designs. She has taught for guilds and shops all over the United States and Canada, and she calls it "a delightful profession."
Some of her ideas and techniques are not traditional, and some in fact are rather unusual. Jean advises her students, "When you read the instructions, absorb what you like and discard the rest."
