Lucinda Hathaway is a stitcher and writer. Lucinda owns and runs Serendipity Tours, planning and escorting 'Sewjourns', needlework tours. The trips are for small groups of interested embroiderers, and include hands-on stitching workshops with designers and teachers in the area being toured. Lucinda has been planning and escorting these 'Sewjourns' for ten years and enjoye every minute!

Lucinda is updating her exhibition here with two new pieces. This first one is "Swan" which is a canvas by Stella Edwards, English needlepoint designer and author.

Lucinda writes: "I promised Stella to do as many different stitches as possible on this canvas: chain stitch, tent stitch, french knots, outline stitch, gobelin stitch, leaf stitch, spider stitch and lazy daisy."

"The lovely black purse is a Lee leather purse. The canvas insert is an original design by JoAnn Nekic Malik done for one of my Sewjourns in 1999."

"Aurora Borealis" is stitched with seven different types of threads. I have lost track of JoAnn, a very talented needlewoman, and am hoping she will see this and contact me."

This piece, "Astbury Village" was one that Lucinda stitched on a Sewjourns trip to England.

"Astbury Village is a beautiful little town we visited on a trip to England. Jill Milne of Jazz Design designed this piece especially for our group. We sat in Astbury and stitched - truly "painting with thread".

"In the twelve years that I have been doing needlework tours I have accumulated many projects. This is testimony to the fact that I do eventually finish most of them. The three pieces here in the Guest Gallery are all projects from my trips."

"My children's book Takashi's Voyage: The Wreck of the Sindia provides me with another avocation of talking to children about reading and writing. Great fun!"
